Statistics on the use of radiation in Japan, 2001

This booklet presents the statistical data on the establishments which have been permitted by the Director-General of the Science and Technology Agency to use radioisotopes and/or radiation generators, and the establishments that have reported to and have been accepted by the Director-General to use only sealed radioisotopes of less than 3.7 GBq in all, as provided by the Law Concerning Prevention from Radiation Hazards due to Radioisotopes, etc. (Law No. 167, June 10, 1957). For summing up the quantities of radioactive waste collected for disposal, however, the radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic uses are included also. (J.P.N.)
