Complex congenital cardiovascular diseases studied with new continuous rotation CT

Description

The slip ring and nutate/rotate configuration of the TCT-900s CT unit make it possible to scan 30 sections continuously within 90 seconds. This scanner also allows real-time hemodynamic imaging and multiplanar reconstruction of images. Studies were performed on 17 patients with complex congenital cardiovascular abnormalities. The findings correlated very well with findings on angiocardiography and echocardiography. The real-time multiplanar images demonstrated complex pathology better than echocardiography in four infants with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and aortic interruption, PDA with coarctation complex, pulmonary stenosis with a single ventricle, and pulmonary atresia with a single ventricle
