Combustion of solid fuels in the fluidized bed
Description
The works listed below have been carried out in Latvia. In these works it is stressed that Latvia possess considerable reserves of peat, and is shown that the most promising way of burning peat under local conditions is its combustion in the fluidized bed (FB). The final expressions for FB combustion are given, characterising different stages of a particle's warming-up, moisture evaporation, emanation and combustion of volatiles, as well as warming-up of the coke residue and combustion of low-ash fuels. The requirements to be imposed upon the inert material for a bed are formulated. The results of measurements performed for a steam boiler DKVR-10-13, which is currently under exploitation at one of the boiler-houses of the Yekabpils city (Latvia), are reported. The measurements allowed, in particular, for determination of the gross efficiency of the boiler unit. The calculations of the boiler's heat losses and gross efficiency have been performed. The measures to be taken for improvement of the mentioned efficiency are listed. (authors)
