Electrical joints for the European LCT coil
Description
A description is given of a solder-press joint of segmented design for 15 kA at 1 Tesla, as well as of inductive measuring apparatus. One 4-segment unit is 160 mm in length and exhibits an electrical resistance of 2.3.10-10 Ω at 1 T. Resistance of a prototype joint was measured up to 5 T. Thermal cycles between 77 K and 300 K did not affect the resistance. Reproducibility of fabrication has been proved
