Observation of muon pairs in neutrino interactions at Serpukhov 70 GeV accelerator

Description
A search for dimuons produced in the spark chamber experiment in neutrino and antineutrino beams of the Serpukhov accelerator is reported. The clear dimuon signal has been observed in νN interactions. Dimuon yield is Rsub(ν)=N(2μ)/N(1μ)(>=)(6.2+-1.7)x10sup(-3) in the neutrino energy interval 7.5-30 GeV. From antineutrino data it is concluded that in the same energy range Rsub(anti ν)(<=)1 1x10-2. The majority of dimuons is produced by neutrinos with Esub(ν)(>=)7.5 GeV
