In situ study of borehole stability: development and testing of a standard convergence probe

  • 1. Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH (Germany, F.R.)

Description

A simulation test was experimented for the pressure measurement in the casing of a borehole in salt and a movable probe (standard probe) for measurement of heat induced in the borehole. An experimental programme was used in the laboratory for standardization. Results agree with thermodynamic calculations. Pressure variations produced by thermal convection in the borehole agree to results obtained by simulation and theoretical studies. These parameter are very useful for thermodynamic calculus in the neighbourhood of high-level radioactive wastes
