Monitoring system for radiation leakage at Lan-Yu low level radwaste storage site

Description

It is according to the basic design of Lan-Yu Low Level Radwaste Storage Site to setup a monitoring network for radiation leakage. The radwaste which has been stored in the repository were solidified into the stainless buckets. It is possible that the radwaste bucket could be corroded due to many unpredictable natural factors, such as earthquake, flow change of underground water...etc., to cause the leakage of radioactive nuclides. After carefully reviewing the environmental condition of the repository, an monitoring network for radiation leakage was proposed based on the well-logging technique. A mobile in-situ gamma ray spectrometer was designed to inspect the background radiations of storage trench, dilution pool, ground and subground respectively
