Description
In Cuba, the Basic Regulations on Radiation Safety, dated January 4, 2002, establishes that all occupational exposure to natural sources of radiation must be controlled and subjected to radiological safety requirements, with a view to protecting occupationally exposed workers. For this reason, different activities were carried out in the country aimed at identifying and evaluating possible exposure scenarios for workers due to the presence of radioactive materials of natural origin. Once the possible scenarios had been identified, a search was carried out for existing historical data on the radiological characterization of the identified activities or workplaces, which made it possible to estimate the order of magnitude of said exposures in the different identified activities and workplaces. This work presents the national survey of the different occupational exposure scenarios to NORM in the national territory, as well as the estimated dose values.
