Description

A MW-class RF generator combined of a high power tetrode and a solid-state driver is designed for ICRH in the next generation tokamaks, e.g., ITER. A control grid of the tetrode is directly driven by the switching circuit which consists of field effect transistors (FETs). A prototype switching circuit for MW-class tetrode is fabricated and its performance is tested with a cold tetrode. Driving voltage of 500 Vp is achieved, which will enable the output power of ∼ 1 MW. (orig.)
