Description
Contamination of the atmosphere was observed in the localities of Melnik, Prievidza, Kladno, Mnisek pod Brdy, Dolny Kubin, Prachatice and Kosetice. The concentrations and morphology of solid emissions in these localities are given. The concentration of trace elements is also given. It is shown that in localities with prevailing pollution from combustion there are higher concentrations of As, Ce, Th, Sb, Cs; areas with metallurgical industry have increased concentrations of W, Cr, Co, Sb, Se, Fe, Zn, Ni, Cu. The so-called background pollution is caused by long-distance transfer of particles from other localities or by manufactured fertilizers. (J.B.). 8 refs., 7 figs., 2 tabs
