Quality control of metallic uranium fuel for Dhruva research reactor

  • 1. Quality Assurance Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

One of the purposes of a research reactor is production of isotopes for various non-power applications such as medical, agriculture, etc. Another important application is to carry out material characterization using the neutron beams taken out from the reactor. The third obvious use of a research reactor is to try new concepts of reactor fuels and concepts. This paper is meant to give an overview of the quality control methods implemented in respect of fuel for Dhruva reactor
