High-voltage pulse generator with varying duration

Description

High-voltage pulse generator, allowing one to regulate the duration of the output pulse within 0-3 μs range is described. The generator comprises two thyratrons, a forming line, a decoupling transformer and a synchronization unit. The main advantage of the generator consists in the return of the forming line residual energy to the power supply source which provides for a high generator efficiency. It is experimentally ascertained, that during 15 μs duration pulse formation the generator efficiency is no worse than 50%. The change of output pulse amplitude in the course of changing the duration within the whole range does not exceed 10%. The generator forms pulses with the amplitude of up to 5 kV and recurrence frequency of up to 200 Hz. The generator is used in the electron accelerator control circuit
