Interstellar circular polarization: a report of eight new positive results

  • 1. Battelle Observatory, Battelle-Northwest Laboratories, Richland, Washington 99352

Description

A survey for interstellar polarization effects carried out during 1973 March-September at Battelle Observatory has resulted in the discovery of circular polarization in the light of eight stars. We report the first detection of interstellar circular polarization in stars later than spectral class A and at least one exception to the usual wavelength dependence of the effect. Subject headings: interstellar reddening - polarization
