Source terms for the initial radiations
Description
Calculations are provided of the prompt neutron and gamma-ray outputs of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs and calibration data provided to support these calculations. Estimates with uncertainties of the yields of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki explosions are also presented. Calibration data for the Nagasaki bomb output calculation consists of the calculated outputs of several other test nuclear devices of the Nagasaki type for which dose measurements were obtained in test explosions. Calibration data for the Hiroshima bomb output calculation consists of spectral measurements of the neutron and gamma-ray outputs of a replica of the Hiroshima bomb operated as a critical assembly. The output spectra were calculated with classified special purpose computer codes which follow the evolution of the explosions
