Partial tin (Sn) substitution of strontium (Sr) in the 2212 BSCCO system

  • 1. Solid-Physics Laboratory, Physics Dept., College of Science, De La Salle University, Manila (Philippines)

Description

The effects of doping tin (Sn) into the strontium (Sr) site of the 2212 Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system via the modified solid-state methods has been studied. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a pure 2212 phase for the sample with nominal composition Bi2.0 Sr1.8 Sn0.2 Ca1.0 Cu2.0 Oδ sintered in air at 860oC for 24 hours and annealed in air at 855oC for 48 hours. Magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity measurements of this sample showed a Tcx (onset) of 94oC and Tcρ (zero) of 95oC, respectively. (Author)
