ABDOMEN BASIN - Colon carcinoma. CT-guided assessment of the circumferential resection margins

Description
The assessment of the circumferential resection margins is important for estimating the outcome of rectal cancer. If there is evidence of threatened circumferential resection margins (CRM) on MRI, neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy and total mesorectal excision (TME) should be considered in order to reduce the risk of recurrence and increase the chances of survival.

Die Beurteilung der umlaufenden Resektionsränder ist bei Rektumkarzinomen wichtig für die Abschätzung des Outcomes. Finden sich im MRT Hinweise auf bedrohte zirkumferentielle Resektionsränder (CRM), sollte eine neoadjuvante Radiochemotherapie und eine totale mesorektale Exzision (TME) in Betracht gezogen werden, um das Rezidivrisiko zu senken und die Überlebenschancen zu erhöhen.
