Mechanism of (K+, K+p) reaction on C, O nuclei at 480 MeV energy

  • 1. Leningradskij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Leningrad (USSR)

Description

The (K+, K+p) reaction on carbon and oxygen nuclei is studied making use of the nitrogen-free nuclear photoemulsion PR2-PVS. The integral reaction cross section and various differential distributions are obtained. The results of the experiment are compared with the diagram-technique calculations. The theory agrees with the experiment if the calculation includes pole and triangular diagrams which take into account the interaction in the initial and final states. The off-shell effects in the scattering vertices turn out to be inessential. The contribution coming from K+-meson inelastic scattering on nuclei with subsequent proton emission does not exceed 5%
