New modification of two-probe pulse neutron method

Description

The author describes a new modification of the two-sensor neutron pulse method. The measuring procedures are so selected that the method is not particularly sensitive to variations in hydrogen content (porosity) of the strata and is sensitive to their chlorine content. The new method was tested on deposits in the Perm region. The deposits of the Bashkir stage, which are the main object of carbonate deposite workings, consist chiefly of limestones that vary greatly in porosity and thickness. The testing of the special modification of the neutron pulse method confirmed its effectiveness in revealing petroleum-bearing strata in sections of bore holes in rocks of varying porosity in regions of high or medium mineralization of the stratal waters (tentatively estimated to be above 50-100 g/l NaCl).
