Giant resonance excitation by 156 MeV 6Li scattering

Description
The excitation of the giant quadrupole resonance in 208Pb has been observed by inelastic scattering of 156 MeV 6Li ions. The continuum background in the giant resonance region of the measured 6Li spectra proves to be strongly reduced as compared to the spectra obtained by inelastic scattering of lighter projectiles, which makes 6Li scattering a promising tool for more detailed studies.
