Description

The DNA damage mechanism induced by fungicide 'Dodine' has been investigated using several spectroscopic, thermal and molecular dynamics simulation techniques. Dodine interacts specifically with adenine (A)-thymine (T) bases of the minor groove of DNA mainly by its long hydrophobic chain. The interaction of do dine perturbs the stacking of nucleobases in the minor groove as well as elongates the first strand of DNA which leads to damage of its canonical structure. (author)
