Recent developments in double beta decay

  • 1. Department of Nuclear Physics, Comenius University, Mlynska dolina F1, SK-842 15 Bratislava (Slovakia)

Description

The neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ-decay) is discussed in context of recent neutrino oscillation data. The expected half-lives of the 0νββ-decay are calculated by assuming the inverted hierarchy of neutrino masses. The perspectives of the experimental 0νββ-decay searches are analyzed. The problem of reliable determination of the 0νββ-decay nuclear matrix elements is addressed
