Description
Analytic calculations of the compensation of longitudinal energy leakage fluctuations in short absorption calorimeters by optimizing shifter characteristics are described. The energy resolution of short absorption calorimeters over an energy range of 10-100 GeV was found to be equal to that of total absorption calorimeters by optimizing shifter characteristics. 4 refs.; 5 figs.; 1 tab
