The influence of some dissolved ions on adsorption of uranium ion by a sulfonamide type adsorbent

  • 1. Research Inst. for Polymers and Textiles, Yatabe, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

The influence of alkaline earth metal ions on adsorptivity of crosslinked poly (1-(N,N-bis (carboxymethyl) sulfamoylphenyl) ethylene) (PSt-Imi) for uranium was studied. Uranium uptake of PSt-Imi decreased as magnesium ion or calcium ion was added to the artificial sea water. The inhibitory effect of the latter was larger than that of the former. The adsorption isotherm of uranium on PSt-Imi followed Freundlich's formula of adsorption, sorption isotherm, and the slope was estimated to be unity. (author)
