CT in adrenal tumor

Forty two cases of adrenal tumor were studied to establish differential diagnosis of adrenal tumors on the basis of the size and the density of the tumor, and the presence of the central low density. Conclusions were as belows: 1) In primary aldosteronism, the tumor is small and of low density, but large and of high density in pheochromocytoma and cancer. 2) The central low density was present in over half the cases of pheochromocytoma, metastasis and cancer. 3) Differentiation between non-functioning and functioning adenomas, and that among non-functioning tumors were thought to be difficult.
