Description

The D3Y effective interaction is applied to calculate the ion-ion optical potential and elastic scattering cross section. The D3Y interaction is different from the original M3Y interaction, where it can describe both nuclear matter saturation and the properties of finite nuclei. An imaginary part of the D3Y interaction is derived by using the forward scattering amplitude approximation. The exchange effects due to antisymmetrization are fully incorporated for the systems 16O + 16O and 40Ca + 40Ca by the two-center shell model. A good agreement with experiments is obtained for the case of the parameter s0 = 5. The agreement is slightly better than that obtained by original M3Y force with the Paris version
