Description

Operational performance of the four PHWR-CANDU 6 reactor units, located at Wolsong Site in the Republic of Korea, has been consistently high over a number of years with each unit successfully achieving gross capacity factors of well over 84 %. Recently, Wolsong Unit 1 achieved three consecutive cycles of trouble free operation. Duration of each cycle, called OCTF (One Cycle Trouble Free), was more than 330 days with the third cycle setting a record of 455 days. This paper presents the operation and maintenance factors, and their management, underlying the achievement of OCTF operation with high capacity factors. (author)
