China wants more power for the people

  • 1. Bradford Univ. (United Kingdom). South East European Studies Unit

Description

Power demand in China, unlike the west, is set to rise sharply over the next two decades. Massive investment and construction programmes will be needed to meet the Government's target of 10% of total power generation coming from nuclear power by 2010. This article examines how these changes will impact upon the world's nuclear contractors, offering them a large and rapidly expanding market. The plans for various types of reactors, their locations and how these projects will be financed and resourced are also discussed. (UK)
