Description
The feasibility of the hand-held gamma probe Modelo-2 produced by the French Atomic Energy Commission for the Radioimmunoguided Surgery (RIGS) of breast cancer has been presented. The main aim of the paper is to introduce this probe to localisation of the sentinel node in clinical application during the surgery at Oncological Centre in Cracow. The water imaging phantom of the breast has been elaborated to measure fundamental parameters of the named probe using99mTc radiolabeled nanocoloid. Geometrical resolution of the probe was (3,09±0,71 mm) and minimum detectable activity was 119,61±1,24 kBq). The value of MIRD (Medical Internal Radiation Dose) has been estimated (0,37 mSv) as well as the absorbed dose for surgeon and medical staff. (author)
