A quasi-adiabatic polarization potential for elastic electron-atom scattering. Helium and other atoms
Description
The polarizability function which appears in the quasi-adiabatic polarization potential proposed previously is approximated in terms of the oscillator strength sums, S(k) (k=0, -2, -4, and -6). Numerical calculations of the electron-atom elastic cross sections are made for helium at 50-500 eV. The polarizability functions for several rare-gas, alkali, and alkaline-earth atoms are also estimated. (Auth.)
