One-line methylation reaction of nuclear reaction products 116Sb, 63Zn in acetone gas

Description
The on-line chemical reaction of acetone gas with the nuclide which recoiled out of the target was studied. In the cases of Sb and Zn, radiolysis and the hot atom thermal reaction, respectively, played an important role. From these studies the conditions for on-line methylation were estimated, a picture of on-line methylation was suggested, and a new method was proposed for measurement of the average projected range of charged heavy particles in the compound gas.
