Description

The mechanism of inelastic low-energy neutron scattering by Sm isotopes is investigated. The (n,n') reaction was investigated in the framework of the method of connected channels and the Hauser-Feshbach model. Nuclei under study are considered as deformed. The contribution of both direct part of the reaction and the reaction through a compound nucleus was taken account of. Cross sections of elastic scattering and excitation of 2+ and 4+ states were calculated. Experimental and theoretical values are in good agreement
