Description
To conduct a more democratic administration regarding the research, development and utilization of atomic energy, the Atomic Energy Commission and Atomic Energy Safety Commission have been set up under the direct control of the Prime Minister's Office. AEC deals with the policies on the utilization of atomic energy, regulations regarding nuclear fuel materials and reactors (excluding those for the AESC), etc. It consists of five members, including a chairman. AESC deals with the policies on safety regulations concerning the utilization of atomic energy, safety regulations regarding nuclear fuel materials and reactors, etc. It consists of five members, including a chairman. The Committee on Examination of Reactor Safety and the Committee on Examination of Nuclear Fuel Safety are attached to AESC. (Mori, K.)
