Higher actinides transmutation using higher actinide burner reactors
- 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Inst., Tokai, Ibaraki, (Japan). Tokai Research Establishment
Description
Nuclear transmutation of long-lived nuclides into shorter-lived nuclides is the attractive option which may answer the high-level radioactive waste management. One of the techniques of higher actinides transmutation is to recycle these nuclides into fast reactors. In this paper, designing of a higher actinides burner reactor and fuel cycle facilities is discussed to assess the concept of these reactors. The characteristics of transmutation in burner reactors is compared with those in power reactors
