Characteristics of the ultra-radiation-resistant cable

Description
The production method of brominated acenaphthylene condensation product 'Con-BACN', which gives the radiation resistance, has been improved, thereby enabling industrial production of the ultra-radiation-resistant cable. In its initial method, the yield was low and the controlling in condensation composition and bromine content was difficult. The relation between the radiation resistance and the condensation composition was then revealed. The compensation effect due to grafting of the polymer was found to be contributing to the radiation resistance by Con-BACN. The ultra-radiation-resistant cable using Con-BACN possesses excellent characteristics; its flexibility is retained in the radiation exposure to very high doses. It should be useful in raising reliability of such radioactive facilities. (Mori, K.)
