CP violation in the decay KL→π+π-e+e-

Description
We have calculated the distribution dΓ/dφ for the decay KL→π+π-e+e-, where φ is the angle between the vectors normal to the π+π- and e+e- planes. The result can be written in the form dΓ/dφ=Γ1cos2φ+Γ2sin2φ+Γ3sinφ cosφ, where the last term is CP violating and involves the interference of the M1 component of KL→π+π-γ with the bremsstrahlung component as well as a possible direct E1 component. Using data on the radiative decays KL,S→π+π-γ, we estimate an asymmetry in the φ distribution of (3.8±1.4)%
