Effect of climatic aging on radiation resistance of PTFE
Description
Effect of climatic aging on polytetrafluoroethylene film radiation resistance under irraiation in air by 600 keV energy electrons and γ-rays from 60Co with 1.25 MeV energy with the absorbed dose (D) making up respectively 10-103Gy/s and 50 Gy/s, is studied. Breaking stress under tension (σ), relative extension under the break (ε), crystallinity degree, linear dimension of crystallites under irradiation effect on the polymer in different climatic zones are studied. With the absorbed dose increase σ is monotonously reduced, ε is of extreme character. Ε value is maximal at D=1.0 kGy. It is ascertained that preliminary climatic aging effects sufficiently the polytetrafluoroethylene radiation resistance
