Monitoring and storage requirements for sealed sources of ionizing radiation are stated and problems of shielding design and construction are discussed. As regards diagnostic X-ray procedures, in addition to general requirements and rules for handling sealed sources, physical-technological factors are considered from the standpoint of patient protection.
