Storage container for accommodating individual fuel rods of irradiated reactor fuel elements

Description

The storage container has a circular storage space, in which a basket which accommodates fuel rods filled into boxes is situated. In order to ensure good heat removal from the storage bundle, the individual fuel rods are arranged in a circle in the basket. The boxes have holddown springs on their top surfaces. The fuel rod boxes are limited in their radial expansion towards the centre, so that an empty square central shaft is formed in the middle of the basket. (orig./HP)

Abstract (German)

Der Lagerbehaelter weist einen kreisfoermigen Lagerraum auf, in dem ein die in Buechsen gefuellten Brennstaebe aufnehmender Einsatzkorb angeordnet ist. Um eine gute Waermeabfuhr aus dem Lagergebinde zu erreichen, sind die einzelnen Brennstabbuechsen im Einsatzkorb kreisfoermig angeordnet. Die Buechsen werden auf ihrer stirnseitigen Oberflaeche mit Niederhaltefedern beaufschlagt. Die Brennstabbuechsen sind in radialer Ausdehnung zur Mitte derart begrenzt, dass in der Mitte des Einsatzkorbes ein leerer quadratischer Mittelschacht gebildet wird. (orig./HP)
