CP-violation tests with polarized resonance neutrons

  • 1. Petersburg Nuclear Physics Inst., Gatchina (Russian Federation)

Description

The problem of CP-violation effects in transmission of polarized neutrons through the polarized target which may be enhanced in the vicinity of p-resonances by 5-6 orders of magnitude is discussed. The formula for determination of the difference in transmission of neutrons with spins parallel and antiparallel to the vectors of the neutron momentum and the target spin is suggested. A very important problem of the optimal choice of the target sample thickness is considered as well. The explicit dependence of the relative error on the target thickness for the case of the p-resonance in La is shown. It is revealed that the limitations on the accuracy of measuring the rotation angle in order to check the compensation of pseudo-magnetic rotation are quite tolerable
