Elf Atochem details three-pronged CFC phaseout strategy
Creators
Description
Elf Atochem (Paris) has commissioned its 9,000-m.t./year hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)-134a plant at Pierre Benite, France, although the company may not operate it at full capacity for some time because demand for the product has yet to take off. Nevertheless, the unit completes the company's three-pronged strategy for replacing ozone-destroying chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which also includes supplying CFCs, as permitted by legislation, and hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC)-141b and -142b, transitional substances the company says will speed replacement of CFCs
