Theoretical collision physics of highly charged ions

Description

We review the main aspects of some of the theoretical models that have been developed during the last years to describe highly charged ion-atom collisions in the low-energy regime. These models are the products of a fruitful mixing of experiment and theory and provide us with a general, albeit still only rough, picture of many-body processes still to be described in detail by more elaborate physical theories
