CRT displays for advanced nuclear power plant control rooms

Description
Control rooms in nuclear power plants present a unique opportunity for the utilization of computer-driven cathode raY tube (CRT) displays because of the need to present large amounts of data in a limited space. This paper illustrates the types of CRT displays that have been developed for use on a plant scheduled for commercial operaton in the mid-1980s, and demonstrates how such human factors considerations as consistency, simplicity and careful use of coding have been implemented in the displays. Also, considerations involved in more advanced displays are briefly discussed. 2 refs
