Evaluation of environmental data relating to selected nuclear power plant sites. Quad-Cities Nuclear Power Station Site

Environmental monitoring data for the years 1972 through 1975 pertaining to the Quad-Cities Station, which began commercial operation Feb. 18, 1973, were analyzed by the most practical qualitative and quantitative methods. Four different cooling methods that were used are described. The results showed no significant immediate deleterious effects or violations of state water quality standards, thus confirming preoperational predictions. Although the plant has not operated long enough to reveal long-term deleterious effects, the present indications do not lead to a concerned prediction that any are developing. The data utilized, the methods of analysis, and the results obtained are presented in detail, along with recommendations for improving monitoring techniques
