Influence of structural-phase transition on the magnetocaloric effects of lanthanum manganites

Description

We studied the magnetic entropy change (ΔSm) of the perovskite manganites La0.7Ca0.3-xSrxMnO3 (x=0.12, 0.135, and 0.15). Effect of orthorhombic-rhombohedral structural transition, coinciding with the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic (FM-PM) phase transition, on the ΔSm is observed. The structural transition causes the double-step decrease of magnetization with temperature and widens the magnetic transition, leading to splitting of ΔSm into two peaks and also decrease in the overall values of ΔSm
