Plutonium distribution in components of natural organic substances and their significance in its migration in soils

Description
Plutonium bonds to separate components of organic matter of different type soils of forest and forest-steppe zone and the role of these bounds in Pu migration in soils were investigated. It is shown that plutonium is bound practically to all the soil organic matter groups. Distribution between them is determined by physico-chemical properties of soils and first of all by humic acid quantitative and qualitative composition. The observed migration ability of plutonium in the series: soddy podzolic soil > grey forest soil > leached black soil correlates with the reduction of soluble complex fraction in the studied soils. An assumption is made, that calcium, iron and aluminium mainly appear to be plutonium non-isotopic carriers, determining Pu migration in terrestrial ecosystems
