Description
A study was made on the effect of chloride and iodide-ions on coagulation of oxyhemoglobin in neutral this-buffer, containing 12 vol% 1-propanol. All three halides produce similar effects on protein coagulation at concentrations of 0.15 mol/l maximum, but their effects differ suggiciently with further increase of salt concentrations. Iodide unlike chloride suppresses completely coagulation at concentrations above 0.5 mol/l. Bromide is characterized by intermediate effect. All three halides enhance monotonously the denaturation changes in protein with increase of their concentration. Halide and propanol effects are additive in this aspect
