DIRK: a computerised system for dosemeter issue and record keeping

The NRPB dosemeter issue and record keeping service for up to 10,000 employees and 100,000 persons is operated through the DIRK system. DIRK consists of a suite of computer programmes and a Data Base. The interrelated files of information are described: the Masterfile containing all information over two calendar years about the issue of dosemeters and detailed dose histories; the Archive File; the National Insurance Number File; and the Dosemeter File, containing information about all the thermoluminescent dosemeters used in the automated personal dosimetry system.
