Process for binding radioactive waste containing boric acid in a block of concrete
Description
Dried radioactive waste is made into a dough with water and this dough is liquified by adding caustic soda solution. Sand, Portland cement and plaster are then stirred in and the blocks formed are hardened for several days. Before hardening, the blocks are compressed by vibration. The pH value is set to 6.5-7 for the waste made into dough. (PW)

Getrocknete, radioaktive Abfaelle werden mit Wasser angeteigt und dieser Teig durch Zugabe von Natronlauge verfluessigt. Dann werden Sand, Portlandzement und Gips eingeruehrt und die gebildeten Bloecke mehrere Tage gehaertet. Vor dem Haerten werden die Bloecke durch Ruetteln verdichtet. Der pH-Wert wird bei den angeteigten Abfaellen auf 6,5-7 eingestellt. (PW)Files
