Contingencies in Decommissioning Cost Evaluations - Panel Session 24
- 1. Westinghouse Electric Company, WM Business Development, D and D (United States)
Description
Contingency costs apply to unforeseen, uncertain and unpredictable conditions, typically encountered during the decommissioning activities (known unknowns). Outside spent fuel management, the dismantling activities in the controlled area constitute the largest contributor to project risk and decommissioning cost. Using data from previous proven experience on site help minimize the contingencies and provide more accurate cost estimates. Technology improvement leads to cost and contingency reduction
