Quarternary hydrophobic ammonium and phosphonium based ionic liquids are receiving increased attention from several research groups due to their hydrophobicity and reusability. In this context, we have chosen a completely incenerable ionic liquid system comprising of trioctylmethylammonium nitrate ((N1888)(NO3)) as diluent and N,N-dioctyl-2- hydroxyacetamide (DOHyA) as extractant, for understanding the extraction behavior of uranium(VI) from nitric acid medium.
